GOOGLE SUMMIT!!!
A few weeks ago my class and I got the chance to attend a google summit at Ormiston Junior College (OJC). Lily-Rose and I chose to attend the same workshops together. The first workshop we went to was a workshop that taught us how to use an app called storyboardthat . Storyboardthat is an app where you can create your own picture story. We got given three choices of what to write about, so Lily-Rose and I chose to do the story about how lollies affect peoples health. We didn't get time to finish but I liked using it because you could customize the characters you wanted.
The next thing we attended was a workshop run by kids from our school Lilly, Jorja and Brianna. It wason how to make a detailed character description/design. We got to make up a character and draw them, then we had to write their back stories, write about if they had scars and things like that. It was really fun because I enjoy art and drawing things.
After that we attended a workshop on NZSL (New Zealand Sign Language) that was run by some kids from (OJC). I learnt how to do my name, somecolours, some animals and some devices: Ipad & computer. Learning sign language was probably my favourite beacause I liked trying to communicate with the kids that were teaching us & it made me think I want to be fluent in NZSL so I can communicate with other deaf kids around New Zealand.
My challenges: My challenges were trying to navigate my way around the school to find the workshops I was attending.
My highlights: My highlights were meeting and interacting with new people. It was also fun to learn some NZSL, but I also really liked how kids running the workshops were taking leadership and showing courage to make there workshops better.
